In early June 2022, Cazoo announced that they will be cutting jobs and reducing investment. As a result, they will also stop car subscriptions to new customers from the end of June 2022. They will continue to support existing car subscribers until their contracts run out.
Cazoo promise they will come back to the subscription market later, as they still see it as an important addition to other types of car ownership. It's not really surprise, considering Cazoo have approximately 10,000 subscription customers across the UK, France, Germany, Spain and Italy.
“We are starting to see an impact on consumer confidence and a marginal shift in the type of cars people are looking for as cost of living starts to bite,” founder and CEO Alex Chesterman said.
Cazoo acquired Drover in 2021, which was one of UK's first all-inclusive, multi-brand car subscription services offering consumers the freedom to experience car ownership without the hassle and on their own terms.
Their mission is to help drivers get the car they want in return for one all-inclusive monthly fee which covers maintenance and breakdown cover.
Similarly to other subscription services, Cazoo makes finding the right car and getting a subscription super easy. Here's how to sign up to Cazoo's subscription service:
To be able to take out a car subscription, you must:
Cazoo won't approve your subscription application if you:
We also have an in-depth guide which explains the driver requirements and eligibility in a lot more detail.
Cazoo's all-inclusive fee includes the following:
For instance, on a 24 month contract, a Tesla Model 3 Standard Range Plus could cost from around £949 a month, while an Audi A5 will cost around £579 a month. Keep in mind prices go up if you want a shorter minimum period of time to have the car. So, a Tesla Model 3 Standard Range Plus is £1,429 on a minimum six-month contract and an Audi A5 is £759.
For those who love driving and expect to do more than 1,000 miles per month, there's a solution for you. Cazoo offers two ways to add more mileage to your subscription for a flat fee on top what you're already paying:
Once your account has been confirmed you’ll be charged for your first payment. There are no joining or admin fees to worry about at the beginning of your subscription.
Once you're their customer, you probably won't leave unless you're looking for a specific car which they don't offer but another service does. Want a more personal Cazoo review? You should check out their TrustPilot page where people have shared their experiences getting cars on subscription.
